Marvel Babes

Fierce!!!

Drawing inspiration from Sex And The City, Marvel Comics is planning to release Marvel Divas in July, a limited series featuring the most ferosh female heroes Marvel has to offer!

Co-creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa described the series as "a way to have some sudsy fun and lift the curtain a bit and take a peep at our most fabulous super heroines."

The series will also tackle what it's like "to be a woman in an industry dominated by testosterone and guns." oh yeah and "video games"

Sounds hot and sexy me like like like these!!!

All the gay comic book nerds just shot a load!

Beware Of The Humans Art Show

On Saturday night, the Lobero Theatre was where it was at! Beware Of The Humans is a clothing line by Joe Beraldo, another 805 hommie that was the main feature of the show, as well as the theme surrounding the event. Joe hand picked a group of talented SB locos to show case their work at the famous theater. See the pics below...

Evol from The Seventh Letter Crew down in Los Angeles came up. This painting/ drawing of the pit bull was probably my favorite. Mad skillz.

Beware Of The Humans clothing on lock deez.

The zombie Pin Up by Ben Kendall. Sicki to the gnar.

I would have to say that this one was the hit of the night, again more works out of talented Ben Kendall. His realism is off the charts. More pictures to come of the live painting...stay tuned.

Hush... looks like I am not the only one into 'manga'

UK graphic designer/illustrator Hush opened up his solo show, entitled Veiled Beauty, the other day at FIFTY24SF Gallery in San Francisco. The exhibition featured a healthy amount of new paintings inspired by graphic-novels, animation, graphic-design, graffiti art, urban art and contemporary painting. Of course the Manga influence is clearly present with his female characters juxtaposed along mixed media layering techniques including spray paint, paper and screen print. Having already sold out shows in Los Angeles and New York, Hush brings his artistic mastery to the city by the bay for a short period. Veiled Beauty will remain open to the public until the 26th of this month.

Floatopia Isla Vista 2009

Did anyone attend this? I forget why people associate Santa Barbara with parties sometimes, but then I am reminded. Kinda wish I went to see some drunk beezies doing some funny stuff. Heard it was a rager. Next year's concessions on me = $$$ hahaha

The Hundreds Spring 09

The Hundreds is always coming out with sweet street gear. I know homeboy Mike Dirt is a fan, as am I, but my SOC homeboy Nizz showed me something that I had to blog about- the "Frankenchola" tee. Too good to be true- mixing my favorites, gangster/horror/pin-up/tatoo. Good shit. I want it.

Love the socks!

Estevan Oriol

Juxtapoz contributing photo editor Estevan Oriol, known for his raw images of LA's street scene and lowrider culture, currently has a sicki billboard up in Los Angeles. Oriol has established himself as a powerhouse within urban culture and photography, collaborating with Upper Playground, creating Joker Brand Clothing with Mr Cartoon, all the while working on a new book, Ink, due out soon.

I love his work! The pictures he takes are so raw, it just gets me. Maybe because I grew up in SB, I love this culture, or maybe because I am half Mexican, either way, I dig it.

Drunk Dial No More!

This is a pretty cool lil thing. An I Phone app that allows you to block people you would normally drunk dial. I have been waiting for this! I usually delete people, standard drunk procedure- but not anymore because I got my boo on lock.

Introducing the Bad Decision Blocker, an iPhone app that might just end the drunk dial once and for all.

Whoever your particular target of choice is, we're guessing you know going into the evening exactly which numbers you shouldn't be calling—but that forbidden fruit seems so much sweeter after a few drinks.

So before you head out for the night, plug the siren song's digits into Bad Decision Blocker and take a vow of silence. The number will temporarily disappear from your phone and the only regrettable late-night calls you'll make will involve Rusty's late night grinds.

We're guessing the eight hours until morning will be enough, but you can commit to up to a week of radio silence if you've got an itchy trigger finger. And when the time's up, just check back in with the app to load the quarantined digits back into your contacts.

Hopefully you'll be ready to face technology by then.

He is having a trunk show in Los Angeles to preview his line Stowellen. Stowellen is a new line of hand carved abalone and ebony jewelry mixed with real feathers by Benjamin Kendall.

Join for refreshments and a peek at the collection.

Shepard X Live Strong X Lance Armstrong

It is fun keeping an eye on Shepard. He has blown up so hard in the past 2 years, although he has been blowing up for a long time now... for those of you who are up on your art game know this. I was pretty damn star struck the first time I saw him at an art show in Laguna Beach, the Juxtapoz Factor, where he was DJing, one of his favorite past times.

Yet another amazing collaboration, Lance asked Shepard to do his ad campaign for Live Strong. As if Lance needs more celeb attention,I guess the guy is very deserving and is quite accomplished. Whateves. Hommie is cool.

Shepard notes:
"Cancer has affected my life like it has millions of others. Both my mom’s sisters died of breast cancer and my mom underwent a double preventative mastectomy because of her genetic predisposition to breast cancer. A good friend of mine, Justin Van Hoy is about to have a bone marrow transplant because of his Leukemia. When Lance Armstrong asked me to participate in his “Stages” art project, and create a mural for the side of the Montalban Theater in Hollywood, I was honored and glad to help the cause. Check out Lance’s foundation at www.livestrong.org.

Figueroa Mountain

This past Saturday, I took a trip up to Figueroa Mt with Kilian. Super irie up there in the Santa Ynez Mountains, and hopefully the flowers will start blooming later this month, as Spring is almost here. I also hit up the Solvang Skate park that day, for my first time ever rolling around. My digital camera was broke ass but it just came back so more posts soon to fallow!
